About Bilingual Bedtime · For parents

A quiet way to meet a new language

The fairy tales you know, a handful of words in a new language, told slowly enough for a sleepy four-year-old.

Greta waves hello from her cottage door, roses climbing the wall beside her.
The idea

A bedtime story first, a language second

Each episode is a proper bedtime story: a classic Grimm tale, told by a calm English narrator, with soft painted pictures and no rush.

Inside the story, Greta and her friends speak simple, natural German. Five featured words come back again and again, with little “say it with me” pauses, so your child hears them in the story and says them out loud.

German is the first language, and French is next.

Where the stories happen

Welcome to Little Lingo Valley

Bilingual Bedtime is the name of the series. Little Lingo Valley is the storybook place where every story happens: Greta’s cottage at the edge of the woods, a village square with a fountain, a castle on the hill and snowy mountains beyond.

Whichever language you choose, it’s the same valley and the same friends. Only the words change.

Little Lingo Valley from above: the village by the blue bay, a castle on its hill and snowy mountains beyond.
How to use it at bedtime

One story, a few words, lights out

1

Settle in first

After bath and teeth, when the lights are already low and everyone is cosy.

2

Watch together

Sit close and join in when Greta says the words. Children copy the grown-up beside them.

3

One story, then sleep

Each episode ends with a word recap, a goodnight and a short prayer: a natural place to stop.

4

Bring a word to breakfast

Try Guten Appetit! the next morning and see who remembers.

A little girl in her nightdress folds her hands to pray in bed by lantern light.
A quiet faith

Stories with a gentle Christian heart

The traditional tales keep their quiet Christian faith, as they were first told. Each episode ends with a short, whispered bedtime prayer:

“Lieber Gott, danke für diesen Tag. Gute Nacht.”

Dear God, thank you for this day. Good night.
